Waiting for Lefty by Clifford Odets

If you've got no plans for waiting in line overnight this summer to see Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, perhaps you'll wait for a different piece of didactic catharsis. Waiting for Lefty is the moving, politically-charged drama that made Clifford Odets the darling of the Group Theatre. It's a pithy one-act containing some brilliantly written scenes that will break your heart and send you running into Wal-Mart screaming, " STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE!"
